Sleep on a carved houseboat, float across Dal Lake at sunrise and ride the gondola in Gulmarg. Kashmir is slow, green and hard to leave.

Day by day
Your 6 day plan
Day 1: Arrive in Srinagar
Pickup from Srinagar airport and check in to your houseboat on Dal Lake. Evening shikara ride past the floating market and lotus gardens.
Day 2: Gulmarg day trip
Drive to Gulmarg, the meadow of flowers. Ride the gondola for wide Himalayan views, then return to Srinagar for the night.
Day 3: Srinagar to Pahalgam
Stop at the saffron fields of Pampore and the old temple ruins of Awantipora. Evening walk along the Lidder river.
Day 4: The valleys of Pahalgam
Spend the day in Betaab Valley, Aru Valley and Chandanwari. Pine forests, meadows and cold mountain streams.
Day 5: Back to Srinagar
Visit the Nishat and Shalimar Mughal gardens, then shop for pashmina, walnuts and kahwa in the old city.
Day 6: Fly home
Breakfast, then a drop at Srinagar airport.
